✏️ Engaged Learning - With our new departmentalized schedule, our teachers are digging deeper into their subjects and implementing creative lessons and activities that keep the students excited and motivated. Specifically, our new math coach and reading coach are meeting weekly with their respective teachers to improve teaching practices in math and reading.

👍🏻 Positive School Climate - We take pride in the fact that we've worked so hard to build our climate and culture at CIS. Visitors have said that they feel so welcomed when they come into our building, which is exactly what we want! This all revolves around our "CIS Way" which is derived from our six core values of our six Houses. They are:

  • Altruismo (House of Givers) - Give to others in need

  • Amistad (House of Friendship) - Be a friend, not a foe

  • Isibindi (House of Courage) - Find the courage to do what's right for yourself and for others

  • Onesta (House of Honesty) - Choose to be honest with yourself and others

  • Reveur (House of Dreamers) - Aspire to achieve greatness

  • Uzwela (House of Compassion) - Treat others the way you want to be treated

📋 Principal's Advisory Council - This is our 2nd year to have a Principal's Advisory Council (P.A.C. Team) made up of students of each grade that meet with me once a month to discuss what's going well, and where we could improve (from a student's perspective) at CIS. During these meetings, we talk about what matters most to them. One student even started a campaign to bring in prize candy that doesn't have Red 40 and other dyes in it, of which many students are allergic.

🏫 CIS Student Ambassador Program - School Counselors, Sarah Wright and Brianna Culp have worked diligently again this year selecting students through a strenuous interview process as the 2025-2026 student ambassadors. These students welcome and give tours to new students of our school. When we have events like Fall Festival, Family Thanksgiving Feast, etc., they greet all the visitors and have them sign in as well as escorting them to where they need to go.
