Friday Focus 10/31/25
This week we are featuring Isabella High School.
Principal: Ricky Porter
Assistant Principal: Ryan Ellison
💛 We have started a new partnership with Central Alabama Wellness. A small group of 6th-8th grade students are working to teach lessons to their classmates about important topics for teens today. This small group of 11 students has named themselves the "Isabella Influencers." They will be doing different lessons and projects during the school year. Ms. Zina Cartwell from Central Alabama Wellness will help them. They will talk about issues that affect our school and teens. We are excited to see this program grow and help our school.
🖤 As part of this partnership, we are having a Red Ribbon Week Health Fair for our 6th-8th grade students on October 29th from 8:30-10:30. We have several different groups from the state and community coming to give resources to our students about health and wellness. This includes vaping, substance abuse, mental health, underage drinking, physical health/hygiene, nutrition, exercise, and healthy relationships. We are happy to offer this to our students. We will also send helpful resources home to families. This will help them support their children's health and wellness.
💛 We are in our third year of working with the Big Brother Big Sister program. This group comes from Shelby County every week. They run a mentoring program for our elementary and high school students. Mrs. Cofer and I checked how many students are in the program yesterday. We have had over 40 elementary students (called "littles") and over 40 high school students (called "bigs") in this program. It has grown every year!
🖤 Some of our Seniors used the new college application program through Alabama Possible. The new program this year is called the Alabama Direct Admissions Initiative. Seniors who finished everything by the first deadline got about 115 offers to go to college. These offers were from the 40 colleges and universities that are part of the program. They also got over 2.6 million dollars in scholarships.
